During the early end of 2012 Sealand where referred to us to take over their website with a fresh, modern and professional website. The previous site was built in house and a complete rebuild with full e-commerce solution. We had to take the site into a big leap forwards from the previous version, so in this task we knew we had to go beyond all expectations. Sealand.gov was in need of a new look moving forward with the constant growth of the Sealand following, especially with its major presence online. We sought out to create a new experience for the Sealand fans across the world, an experience that would bring an even bigger in-depth look into the Principality of Sealand like never before.
After being briefed by none other than Prince James and Prince Liam we had a clear vision on how to execute the ideas proposed to us, but at the same we had plenty of creative channels to explore. From the beginning of the project our Design team worked on how we could make the website more visually pleasing, whilst providing users with an experience that they could take away more information from the new site than ever before. It was challenging, but we feel that we provided the right solutions to all areas of the brief. We began by mapping out each page with a Wireframe, which allowed us to make lots of aesthetic changes, and to break away from the existing design. Almost like starting again with a blank canvas. After outlining what we planned to do, we provided a full presentation of our ideas to the Princes. They really believed in the design and couldn’t wait to see the development phase start, as well as the live version of the site.
